When looking for an international logistics partner, importers and exports should verify that the companies they are working with maintain proper certifications – doing business with an unlicensed or sanctioned firm can turn their problems into your problems.
Similarly, be sure you know who your customs broker is – forwarders sometimes outsource customs clearance work to third-parties, creating additional risk and accountability problems during hand-offs. Ask your current provider if your entries are being written in-house – the answer may surprise you.
